Tell me shepherd, what did you do in the dark of the night?
Sat by our flocks as guardians right.
Sat and heard wolves prowling through the night.
Sat and watched snow patterning moonlight.
Short unaccompanied Christmas carol with words and music by Robert Hugill, with only minimal division between tenor and basses. This attractive lyrical work was premiered by London Concord Singers at the Barbican Centre and has been performed and recorded by a number of choirs, including Newport Cathedral Choir.
